Jessica Stainbrook

Women + TNB Empowerment Self-Defense Instructor
Biography

Teaching Credentials and Experience:

  • Certified Empowerment Self-Defense instructor since 2007

Courses: PEMA 116—Empowerment Self-Defense

Jessica’s first self-defense class as a college first-year student was a profoundly empowering and transformative experience, and it inspired her to train further and become a teacher over the following years. Her passion now is passing empowerment skills on to her students here at the UO. Jessica guides students to recognize danger cues in others’ behavior, set and defend their own boundaries, claim their voice, and take up their space in the world—to help them walk through the world with less fear and more confidence!

When she is not on campus, you can often find Jessica in the woods with her family and her best friend/sidekick, one small but mighty dachshund.

Cost of attendance is the estimated cost to attend the UO for the academic year. The Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships provides estimates for cost of attendance information that goes beyond tuition and fees, and includes: living expenses (housing and food), books/supplies/equipment, transportation, and miscellaneous personal expenses.
