My experience starts with my swimming background. I started on my first team when I was 4 years old, and swam through college. I got a scholarship to swim Division I at University of Maine. I have always worked around the pool my whole life. This was as a lifeguard, swim instructor, lesson coordinator, and coach. I am the head coach for a local team, Emerald Aquatics, where I am the lead coach for masters and the seniors group for the USA team. I am also the head coach for the University of Oregon Swim Club.
Teaching PE Swimming I: My teaching philosophy is always to consider the full human. I want to approach every student as wholly as possible. Each person who takes my class is a student, friend, worker, support system, and now—a swimmer! I think the water can be incredibly therapeutic and whatever your goal is, I want to work with you to individually curate a plan and hopefully you leave feeling love for the movement!
I have two really incredible kiddos, ages 1 and 3, and they're my driving force in life. We spend a lot of time outside and on the pool deck together. I've learned that I can make an amazing train track for them, and I have a new deep appreciation for unicorns and monster trucks.
