Biography

Teaching Credentials and Experience:

  • PhD in sociology from the University of Washington.
  • I have taught women’s self-defense since 1987 in California, Washington, and Oregon.

Courses: Women’s Self-Defense
Undergraduate: Introduction to Sociology, Sociology of Gender, Introduction to Social Psychology, Violence Against Women
Graduate: Teaching in the Social Sciences, Gender Theory and Research, Microsociological Theory

I love teaching these classes! It is deeply rewarding to teach a class that empowers students both physically and emotionally and helps them to live more freely. In my free time, I enjoy gardening, playing chamber music, and hanging out with my two children, ages twelve and eight.
