Return to the Rec

Before you visit the Rec, please take some time to review our safety information and guidelines below:

Last update: March 22, 2022

Masks are no longer required within the Student Recreation Center, but are encouraged.

What You Need to Know Before You Visit

  • Monitor for COVID-19 symptoms and stay home if you are sick. If you develop COVID-19 symptoms or test positive for COVID-19 review the exposure scenarios and guidance. There is an interactive guide available to help UO students, staff, and faculty determine next steps.
  • You may enter the facility either through the Main Entrance on 15th Avenue or the East Entrance off the turf fields. At the access gates, you may scan in using either your UO ID card or by downloading the UO PE and Rec app.
  • PE and Rec is taking extra measures to keep the Rec clean, including frequently disinfecting high touch points. You can help maintain a healthy space for yourself and others by wiping down and disinfecting equipment before and after use.
  • The Locker Rooms have reopened, and term locker rentals and showers are once again available. Day use lockers remain accessible throughout the facility, and locks can be checked out through the Equipment Issue desk.
  • Though no longer required, lap swim reservations in Downtown Aquatics are still encouraged to ensure your spot. Drop-ins will be welcomed based on availability.
  • PE and Rec will be offering memberships, day passes, and multi-visit passes for guests of all eligibilities. Please visit the Welcome Desk to purchase an access pass. Non-UO community members are required to attest to COVID-19 vaccination.
  • Masks are welcome on campus. As part of a safe and effective workout, if you wear a mask, check in with yourself to monitor how you feel and adjust your workout accordingly.

Risk Mitigation

At PE and Rec, we have always prided ourselves on maintaining a clean, safe, and secure facility, and care for our member’s health is our highest priority. These are just a few of the additional steps we are taking:

  • Self-cleaning and hand sanitizing stations have been placed throughout the facility to encourage visitors to help keep themselves safe.
  • Custodial staff are deep cleaning and disinfecting the facility each day prior to opening, and continue to provide surface cleaning and high-touchpoint disinfecting throughout the day.
  • Our facilities and operations team will be utilizing ionized sprayers for full surface disinfection of equipment, furniture, and facilities.

Cost of attendance is the estimated cost to attend the UO for the academic year. The Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships provides estimates for cost of attendance information that goes beyond tuition and fees, and includes: living expenses (housing and food), books/supplies/equipment, transportation, and miscellaneous personal expenses.
